Ugh, I know how you feel...well, sort of... I don't really see the point in keeping a handwritten journal since it's mostly just bullshit and full of the most horrid shit ever - I swear, just reading one page would make me mental. And that's really odd that your home smells like Chinese food, my burnable DVDs/CDs smell like honey baked ham/maple syrup :(

I've started going through my stuff for our move in a couple months - its amazing what I've kept over the years. Getting rid of it all can be kind of cathartic, I think.

I would totally keep the journals, but maybe put them away in a box, kind of like a time chest or something like that.
