Catalogging books.

My parents were up the weekend before last. They brought the rest of my books. now, for the first time in a long time I think I have all my books under one roof.

The books that came up are largely fantasy/science fiction. Various times I've been surprised by the number of books I haven't read that I should have. Now I see what I read instead. ( Read more... )

*sighs enviously* Some day we'll have the space to bring all the books in ...

But yeah, Dickens vs. Sci-Fi/Fantasy? Hmmm ... and huzzah for books!

Also, happy very belated birthday!

You know, it only occurred to me today to react against this...Dickens does not have 19 novels worth reading (indeed, I doubt he has 19 novels). I don't know if he has more than five or six worth reading, though this is fine by itself. Indeed, I'm not sure anyone has 19 novels worth reading; perhaps Henry James does, and maybe Balzac too (though I'm told one must read him in spurts) but even that's pushing it.

Though I have certainly felt the same when looking back at my large stack of several dozen Star War universe novels c. 1999...
