Michigan Primary

I'm really looking forward to being able to vote for Obama in Michigan.  We're an early primary state now--which was exciting.  But more exciting is being able to vote for a candidate I'm actually enthusiastic about.

I'm sorry.  Did I say "is"?  I was really looking forward to voting for a Democrat I actually liked.  Then I got to read this little Read more... )

Well, McCain gets a lot of respect for sticking to his guns, though he loses a little for making an obviously forced repetition of a joke--he didn't do as well at the debates as he should have. Ron Paul has that nicely libertarian thing going, though he has no electability. I would hesitate with Guiliani because in some ways, he's too like bush, and I don't think we should have two presidents in a row with such limited concern for civil liberties. Romney has good hair; I've heard good and bad things. How is Huckabee?

Also, the party rules are a joke. States ought to rotate primary dates election by election. Don't pick them out of a hat at the last minute, since that would require massive war chests for everyone, but either pick them out of a hat or set a strict order for the next fifty years or something well in advance.

Romney is out. Changing your position is okay--but changing your position on important issues for the sake of political expediency is not okay.

I'll have to do some research on Huckabee.

Chuck Norris endorses Huckabee, isn't that reason enough?

If not, Ron Paul (unelectable though he is) may deserve a vote, if only because the others don't.

Chuck Norris's endorsement is huge. I can consider Ron Paul. I like the guy--but I really would not want him as my President. He's got his tiny government libertarian thing going--which I can understand. He would definitely represent change. The problem is that I'm at heart not a libertarian.

RON PAUL.

RON PAUL SO HARD.

I actually really fangirl Ron Paul, even though he doesn't have a snowball's chance...one commenter said his debate performance made him look like Ross Perot/Dennis Kucinich. Yeah, that's a winnable candidate. But I absolutely adore him.

Ron Paul definitely has a following. I like him and like that he has a following. At heart, though, I'm not a libertarian.
