I started trying to write the "Change your lightbulbs" speech--but it's not very easy. "We are not a nation of darkness. And we are not a nation of wasteful, incandescent lights. The cynics said that we would never convert the country to compact flourescents, but this week, as a nation, we will show that they are wrong. We will show that we are not afraid to save energy. We will show that we believe in a bulb that will last longer without burning out. We are not afraid of that unfamiliar spiral shape--and we are able to find somewhere to shop where we can purchase our lightbulbs for a buck, maybe a buck-fifty each because we, as a nation, reject that five ninety-seven or whatever the special interests are trying to charge because it is totally ridiculous."
