One Man's Trash is Another Kid's Food

[Ness is out and about the city streets once more. Not really having the knowledge (as basic and elementary as it should be) that his refrigerator was always stocked with fresh food, Ness is digging through garbage cans for sustenance and other items he might find useful

Ness, why are you digging through the garbage?

"Ahh!"

[Ness drops a lid on his fingers, cringing as he withdrew his hand and shook it in pain.]

"L-Looking for dinner, sir!"

You'd probably have more luck if you tried the fridge in your house. Or the pantry.

"Fridge? But that thing never gets filled.. I don't have any drone parents, and my real parents are never around. How'm I supposed to eat otherwise?

Besides, this is how I got around back home."

"Ah!"

[Ness jumps back in surprise, letting out a long sigh as he sees that the person who questioned him is not so dangerous looking.]

"Oh.. Phew. Scared me! I'm just looking for food."

[Looks at Ness. Looks at the trash. Back at Ness. Back at the trash.]

No, no, no! The bad tasting food comes from there!

And there won't be any pasta either....

"Wait! You know where I can find some pasta?"

[Ness closes the lid on the trashcan, looking at the stranger with hopeful eyes.]

[ Why do all the crazies come to her house?! But she does take note his rather pristine condition. She'll just walk out to the garbage can and state at him for a bit with slit, narrow eyes that seem a bit judgmental.

Hopefully he can explain. ]

"Aw right! This house has some good leftovers!"

[Ness pockets a few items into his rucksack, turning to walk away from the house when..

GASP! Caught in the act!

A look of panic comes over him as the stranger stares him down with eyes that scream, "dead meat".]

Is there a reason why you're searching for leftovers in my garbage?

[ Really, she has a fridge of them :T Take what you can get bro!

She's more interested and slightly annoyed at the random garbage digging she's experienced all of these months if anything else, though nothing would suggest annoyance in her facial expressions. ]

"Umm.. Because I don't have any dinner at my house?"

[He wasn't lying. Ness was unaware of anything food wise in his house.]

"Besides, this is how I got food back home. I mean, not here in Mayfield."

[Gumshoe is walking down the street when he catches his not!son poking around some garbage cans. Now what could that be about?]

Hey there kid, what are you up to-

[He sees Ness pull out some food with a look of an accomplishment and Gumshoe just gapes... Then quickly recovers.]

WHOA! What are you doing there pal! I'm sure I've been keeping the kitchen well stock! We ain't that poor!

[Ness showcases a face filled with terror and shock. Letting the lid of the trash can clatter to the ground below, Ness becomes frantic in how to respond.]

"A-Are you serious?! We've had food all along?!"

Yeah, I kinda like going to the grocery store to get us food since I can afford all of it.

...Er, I mean, we have all kinds of food back home. Didn't anybody tell you?

[Gumshoe is looking pretty sheepish after saying that, since that means _he_ didn't tell him either...]

Geeze... Look, if you need or want anything, just let me or the drone know, okay? I'm pretty sure she can cook you anything, and I can make sure we have what you want to eat for her to make.
