A conquered and occupied country

Many years ago I had a colleague who was living in Germany at the end of the last war, in the zone of French occupation. I made some casual remark about the conditions, and she rounded on me and said, 'Nobody in Britain can have the least idea of what it is like to live under occupation

I know exactly how you feel. Why can't we at least see people in the open air at a safe distance? Why can't people go for a drive or country walk? None of those things spread the virus. One of my LJ friends was too afraid to go out and post a letter!
