GNW Norse hats

We're staying this year at GNW which means winter camping. Not making any new garb for myself and Benny's only getting a new vest cause I found some check wool. But we do need headgear. So I've made Benny a little Norse beanie and am halfway through making the same for me. I've used some wool I bought at San Fran last year and used wool yarn ( Read more... )

I've seen lots of hats like this, and like them because they look really easy and really warm. But I've been having the darndest time finding any documentation for them! When, where they were used, what extant pieces (if any) we have, etc. Maybe you can help?

I just replicated one I had made years ago. But I've asked a friend who is very focused on research on Norse, Rus, etc hats if he can get me some links for you.
