I just want to say, I saw about the stem cell breakthrough on the news a couple weeks ago, and I'm INCREDIBLY excited about it, and I feel kinda proud that some of that research is coming out of Oregon. :) PETA can seriously kiss my ass, I kind of wish they'd drop off the face of the earth. Go, OHSU!

Don't get ahead of yourself. PETA would find out all too quickly that your ass isn't made out of tofurkey as promised, and then you'd have to kill them all.

"Have to" or "get to"? ;)

Well, seeing as how killing for you is like delectable flan to a spaniard, "get to" always fits.

...and, of course, if there weren't a ban on stem cell research... we'd be experimenting on human cells. or, wait, don't we already do that? just... not on human zygote cells? oh, wait, we do that, too... mostly in the interest of fertility. what, you mean making more babies is more important than fixing spinal cord damage or regrowing scarred uterine tissue so maybe my friend can have kids before she gets too old?

sort of a change in subject, i know.
biologists have the sharp end of the stick in the need for research. nobody really gets irritated at you for slicing up a rock (well, except maybe me, at bulldozers- "ack! look at all that stratigraphic data you destroyed! eeediots!" *ahem*)
and biology research is a necessity. it's just a difficult line to walk, sometimes.
