1:D. dent : destroy low measure and high measure of a thing. 2:B. chew : mouth Activity and the body part you use to do it. 3:D. amethyst : purple Gemstone and it's color. 4:D. inches : length Unit of measure and what it measures 5:A. sublimation : gas Tricky one, both are methods to break something down, and what they break down into 6:D. ordinal:place I think this one is about ordering things/events based on a criteria. And this is why the SATs are goofy. I never actually took them. Maceration is something I knew about because of wine making, for example. Do they expect people to memorize the dictionary?
Oh... and I didn't say why for my answers because I usually just go with my first instinct on tests like these. When I start analyzing my answers and try to justify them, I start second guessing myself.
I didn't take the SAT's just the ACT and I don't remember these on there. I'm sure they were but that was Forever ago.
I am terrible at analogies mostly because there always seems to be 2 answers that are equally correct. It bugs me because I don't understand the logic behind them.
I'm going to be taking the MAT as I'm now trying to get into the Political Science masters program. I could use the GRE but my scores are slightly lower than what they would want and I HATE the GRE and don't want to take it again.
The MAT I believe is 100 of these analogies and the test is only an hour (compared to the 4 hour GRE) it is also half the price of a GRE.
I guess I just need to find a book with helpful hints to what makes the BEST answer. :P
I do the same thing you do which is going by instinct. I just wanted to know why people choose the ones they did. See what their logic was behind their pick.
