I really loved the movie too. About the Ray thing I was feeling the same. It was so sudden and so unexpected just "crunch" and I was like...no...no way they wouldn't....they wouldn't!!! He didn't just

Sorry I'm reading reviews and articles to find stuff similar to my view on this movie.
I completely agree that is my favorite "I love you" ever. The way she says it like an admittance, she's not saying this because she wants to be in love, its because she is, and she knows it. She says it so tenderly, it would melt anyone who ever heard it.
And then there's Naveen's reaction. He looks happy, then he stands up offers his hand to her acting like he is honored by her love, proving he is a gentlman at heart. He doesn't throw himself at her in joy, and they seal their admission of love, not with a kiss, but in a tender hug with smiles on both their faces. Each showing the their joy at each others existence in their life.
I fell in love with the movie forever, right then and there.
Chalk up another one who was freaking surprised they actually killed Ray off! I admit it, I was crying . . . though when they all started looking up in amazement I knew there'd be another star up there with 'Evangeline'.
And Dr. Faciler was epic freaking win, I love Keith David . . . and then he had to sing too. *melts* But, he wasn't so epic that I wasn't cheering when the Voodoo gods ate him! Karmic Death, have you some you firefly killing jerk!
And yes, Tiana and Naveen were adorable, especially when the smooth ladykiller ended up tripping all over himself when trying to propose to a girl he actually loved.
Oh, crap, almost forgot about Mama Odie, she was just as amusing and epic as I thought she'd be. Fear the voodoo grandma!
Gah...I think you perfectly articulated all of my thoughts on teh movie. I walked in thinking it would be okay...and left with my mind blown.
I'm not a very emotional person; I only cried during a movie TWICE (maybe it corrlates to how unopen I am to other people? I'm no psychologist), but I was near tears when Ray died. The only thing stopping me was the fact that my mom and little sisters were there, and I didn't want to break down in front of them. But if I were alone, I would have definately started sobbing.
Gah, I though Ray would turn out to be an annoying comic relief, but it turns out Everybody Loves Raymond (cough). When I saw a bug sit on the dandelion, I had a feeling that he would be significant to the plot. Turns out it would be the bug from the trailer with a subplot that would be a fairy tale on its own.
The thing that I love about Princess and the Frog is that it has that Disney magic, even with a more genre-savvy style. I was transported back into my childhood with a more "mature"(?) fairytale...*sniff*
