In IT years I'm dead

An old friend and colleague of mine from Ensign Bickford sent me an email this morning. He still works for what's left of the company (Ensign Bickford Aerospace & Defense ... Dyno Nobel owns the rest now.)

Any way, the email was titled "end of an era" and had this picture attached.

I read this and think "oooh, I got a good story like that"- ...but I got funding that's expiring in 48 hours, and about eight days worth of work to do between now and then.

But if I'm ever in your neighborhood, I'll buy us pitcher of good beer, and tell stories for my half of it.

Good luck with the grant!

I'd be delighted to hoist a pint with you if you're ever in Connecticut.

I remember those things, and other gear of similar vintage. I used to administer a Cisco IGS/R that was so old you had to physically yank chips out to upgrade the IOS version.

I think you got me there! :-)

I missed the days of genning NetWare 2x from diskettes by just a smidge, and all of the routers I've herded have had their OS image on flash. OTOH, I could probably remember the IRQ/port address pairs for COM1 and COM2 if you put a gun to my head. And jumpers? I still have bags of jumpers downstairs.
