Work is, um. Happening. Totally unrelatedly, here is a meme about fandom.
A: Your current OTP
If by currently you mean literally just this week then Raffi/Seven from Star Trek: Picard, but more broadly I'm just screaming internally about queer Seven of Nine.
B: A pairing you initially didn’t consider but someone changed your mind
I don't know, man, I think a particularly good or intriguing fic premise could convince me of almost anything.
C: A pairing you wish you shipped, but just can't
Kara/Lena.
I mean, I haven't watched Supergirl since S2. And, weirdly considering how obsessed I was with Morgana back in the day, Katie McGrath does nothing for me as Lena. But it irks that there's a fandom with a huge femslash juggernaut out there and it just leaves me utterly cold.
D: What was the first thing you ever contributed to a fandom
Comments :)
E: Have you added anything stupid/cracky/hilarious to your fandom, if so, what
Obligatory link to
The Care and Feeding of Tiny Humans (and slightly larger Time Lords) F: What’s the longest you’ve ever been in a fandom? What fandom was it
Thirty years. I am thirty six years old. I was into Star Trek: The Next Generation when I was six. I am into Star Trek: Picard just this week.
G: What was your first fandom
The first fandom I wrote fic in was Buffy the Vampire Slayer, it was...super bad.
H: Do you prefer real-life TV shows or animated TV shows
Live action. Animation, however objectively good, I just cannot get into. Which makes She-Ra another fandom with a huge femslash juggernaut that I just can't enjoy. Woe is me, etc.
I: Has the internet caused you to stop liking any fandoms, if so, which and why
Not caused, precisely. If I love canon I can merrily ignore any amount of fandom bullshit, but if I'm going off the canon anyway-- like, the change of tone in Buffy S6 wasn't to my taste, so the Spike wars in fandom aggravated me more; canon Merlin was never going to be what I wanted it to be, so that fandom being all Merthur all the time annoyed me more than it otherwise would have.
J: Name a fandom you didn’t care/think about until you saw it all over the internet
I really, really want to see Portrait of a Lady on Fire.
K: How do you feel about the other people in your current fandom(s)
I don't know, man. I've spent the last couple of years doing a slow fade out of fandom, and I couldn't even tell you what a discord is. I'm just happy when I recognise someone's name.
L: Your favorite fanartist/author gives you one request, what do you ask for?
It changes from week to week. This week, please write me a long, detailed character study with plenty of femslash that shows how Seven of Nine got from the Seven we left at the end of Voyager to the Seven we pick up with in Picard.
M: A person who got you into a fandom and what fandom they pulled you in to.
Not a person, but the number of fandoms I got into when I was on Tumblr just because I kept seeing gifs of two female characters kissing was absurd.
N: Your favorite fandom (for the people; not the thing you fangirl over)
There was a sweet spot (after the misogynistic book fans had been crowded out but before the show went off the rails) when Game of Thrones was pretty cool.
O: Choose a song at random, what ship does it remind you of?
Not how my brain works. I'm not a music person. I would be a shockingly bad vidder.
P: Invent a random AU for any fandom (we always need more ideas)
I'm pretty sure that every AU, no matter how bananas, already exists somewhere.
Q: A ship you’ve abandoned and why
Unless I rage quit a fandom (Buffy, Merlin) I don't so much abandon ships as just stop writing them because I've said everything I have to say about them, for example Sansa/Margaery and Root/Shaw.
R: A pairing you ship that you don’t think anyone else ships
I shipped Morgana/Vivian (I actually shipped Morgana with every one-ep disposable female character that show spat out) and thought I was the only one, and then someone wrote a really good Morgana/Vivian for a Big Bang. I don't know if they even knew I existed, but it's still the best fandom thing that has ever happened to me.
S: What's a headcanon you have
Um. A recurring thing in my Game of Thrones fic was that Sansa doesn't drink and doesn't like penetrative sex. I don't know exactly what that says about me.
T: What are your favorite male/male ships or female/female ships
I don't have any m/m ships, I need a lady in there somewhere. My favourite genres in order are
1) Femslash
2) Female character centric gen
3) Het
4-9) Uh...
10) Wow, there sure are a lot of dudes on the dance floor
U: What are your favorite male/female ships
I didn't like a lot of Sansa het ships (too many of them paired her with dudes thirty years her senior) but I did have a brief pang of longing for Sansa/Theon where he survived, she still became Queen in the North, and Theon was just devoted to her.
V: Do you have any 3-way ships? If so, what
Not so much. I don't like love triangles, and I'm not interested in three+ person relationships. I do sometimes like v-shaped relationships, like say Richard loves Kahlan, Cara also loves Kahlan and that's just the way things are.
W: 5 favorite characters from 5 different fandoms
Chrisjen Avasarala - The Expanse
Daenerys Targaryen - Game of Thrones
Jake Peralta - Brooklyn Nine Nine
Donna Noble - Doctor Who
Seven of Nine - Star Trek: Picard
X: 3 OTPs from 3 different fandoms
Chrisjen Avasarala/Bobbie Draper - The Expanse
Daenerys Targaryen/Yara Greyjoy - Game of Thrones
Seven/Raffi - Star Trek: Picard
Y: A fandom you’re in but have no ships from
Doctor Who. I can't ship the Doctor with anyone, I just can't. When Thirteen came along I tried to ship her with Yaz but just...nope.
Z: What's a ship that you want to ship publicly, but everyone on the internet hates it so you keep your mouth shut about it
Nowt.
Like I said, I don't know anyone anymore, and the four people I do still know are adults who don't care what other people ship, so you know, whatever. I'd probably be into Reylo if only Kylo Ren had been a girl. Actually, I would be super into gender swapped Kylo.
