If Irish musicians played Nethack

It has amused me for a while now that in the vast repertoire of tunes available to Irish musicians, several of them have vaguely SF/F-nal names, like “King of the Fairies”, “Queen of the Fairies”, and “The Elven Cloak”.

That last one in particular, though, got me thinking of Nethack thanks to my propensity for playing Elf characters. Which, of ( Read more... )

Thanks! It further occurred to me that YASD totally works better in the sense of Sets, since Irish tunes come in sets! So you could have a whole album of Yet Another Stupid Death Sets, like:

One More Potion of Booze / The Sultry Succubus (Who Took All My Armor) / Sudden Horde of Soldier Ants (is Sudden)

Or:

Leaning on the Keys / Floating Eye Around the Corner / The Cranky, Cranky Kitten

Of course, "Floating Eye Around the Corner" would be a very short tune. More of a pause, really. ;D

"Road to Gehennom"

Could be one of the "Road to..." movies made by Bing Crosby, Bob Hope and Dorothy Lamour. Or perhaps not. :)
