I loved this post! I always enjoy seeing the dialogue translating on screen, but so much can be missed out during the parts that aren't spoken. Thanks for juxtaposing the magic of the written word AND the magic on screen :)
I have to admit, I first liked the relationship of Emma and Knightley in the 1996 Paltrow version, but this one really just sealed it for me. JLM did such an endearing portrayal it won me over instantly
Thank you! I found it really interesting at how well the text fits in with the scenes of the series. I'm glad you enjoyed it! And I agree, Jonny Lee Miller was wonderful as Knightley. :)
Thank you for putting in the book quotes. I wish they'd put in some of the wedding into the series, I quite enjoyed those scenes in Kate/Mark version when he claims to be the "happiest man.."
p.s. it's funny that she didn't want to call him George :) even though they were very close :)
I'm glad you enjoyed the excerpts! I'm looking up that scene on YouTube - I've seen that version, but I can't remember as much from it. :) I thought that was a cute moment between Emma and Knightley... and odd that couldn't call him by his first name!
Yay, another picspam! You know I always look forward to these things. :)
To be honest, I was disappointed with this adaptation of Emma - I found the portrayal of the supporting characters to be flat and boring (Miss Bates wasn't even irritating, in my opinion - merely dull), and was slightly put off by the modernness of the body language and mannerisms of the characters expressed throughout the series.
However, I do like Romola Garai and Johnny Lee Miller as Emma and Mr. Knightley respectively. :) I appreciate how they interact and relate to each other with such ease and familiarity - definitely a good job done there in showing the strong friendship foundation their relationship was built on.

Emma and Knightley were definitely my favourite part so I'm glad you enjoyed them at least. ;)
