Groetjes! :)

I am going to move to Nijmegen for my PhD, starting in September, so I was wondering if there are any webpages that people could recommend that help me find a place to live (preferably an apartment/studio but if all else fails, I'd also share a room).
I could probably stay with my employer for few days to look once I'm there but I would ( Read more... )

www.kamernet.nl is the biggest website for finding rooms. They used to have an english page but I dont see it anymore on the website. You need to sign up first and then you can see what they have available. In order to reply to any of the offers, you need to buy a certain amount of credits first.

Expatica.com may also have some useful stuff.

I'd recommend kamernet as well. I had a look on the German site wg-gesucht.de, and they have a few student rooms advertised in Nijmegen (http://www.wg-gesucht.de/wg-zimmer-in-Nimwegen.337.0.0.0.html). That might be worth a look!

Try pararius.nl

Can you read Dutch? You could also try marktplaats.nl or search for "woningcorporatie" in that region, but most information there is in Dutch.

Thanks! :)

And... hmm... well, I'm native German and know how to pronounce things, so with the help of a dictionary, I should be able to read some Dutch.
Thanks a bunch!

You're welcome :)

Okay, if you know German, Dutch shouldn't be much of a problem.
Then, as I've told, marktplaats.nl > Huizen en kamers, or google [woningcorporatie Nijmegen]. Those corporations build houses and rent out the apartments; prices are generally lower than in the rental agencies, and the one-time service fee is much lower too.
