The Cave of Ordeals

The Cave of Ordeals is a terrible, terrible place where the most powerful of feral demons live. Those who enter are rarely seen again. No one with any sense of self preservation or common sense would dare set foot anywhere near the entrance of the vile place, much less enter it.

Which means, of course, people visit all the time.

Welcome to The Cave of Ordeals, which is exactly what the name states: it is a cave filled with ordeals. Ordeals, in this setting, meaning 'ridiculously powerful demons'. Here, characters can enter and do battle with the monsters to gain EXP, items, and to train. Keep in mind, however, that these beasts are terribly powerful, so do not think for a moment your character will always win.

RULES

The Cave of Ordeals is basically a minigame within the RP itself. As with any game, there are rules! Yes, I heard that groan.

1) Only Once A Week! Your character can only enter once a week. We may change this depending on how active the Cave of Ordeals becomes, because this will be quite a bit of work on the moderators' parts.
2) Only Fighters! Okay, if your character is some Disney Princess? Sorry, no, she's not allowed to participate. Your character needs to be someone who can canonically fight.
3) Keep A Character's Fights In One Thread! During your characters' second or more excursion into the cave, please respond to his/her original thread. Since the number of times a character beats a monster helps determine how much EXP they'll get, it's in EVEVERYONE'S best interest to keep things nice and tidy.
4) Victory Is Determined By the RNG! By all means, make your characters assault the target monster as awesomely as you want. In fact, do so! However, victory is determined by the random number generator and if the monster's retaliatory attacks says "[Character] has been hit and knocked out", then your character has been hit and knocked out. Yes, this is godmoding on our parts, but it's necessary for the gameplay. No debating against the RNG will be tolerated.
5) Losses Mean Hospitalization! If a character loses a battle against a monster, they will be hospitalized for and cannot post during this time. Why can't they post? They're unconscious! These demons mean business. Of course, please comment to the hospital post. Your characters will be brought there by mysterious forces, so you don't need an explanation for how your unconscious character got from the Cave of Ordeals to the hospital. Length of stay will be determined by the monster's level.
6) Characters Can't Always Escape! Characters can run away from fights, but there is a certain chance that they will fail to do so. As a result, even if your character enters the cave and refuses to fight, they can still be hospitalized.

DEMON FIGHTING

We want to keep this as simple as possible, so here is how the Cave of Ordeals will work in regards to the actual fights:

1) Character enters.
2) Demon appears.
3) Character has three options:
>>>[Attack] (The character attacks the monster.)
>>>[Run Away] (Character forfeits their chance to fight; may fail.)
>>>[Find Another Demon] (Character runs from the demon and encounters another)
4) If your character decides to fight, we strongly suggest writing their attacks descriptively, creatively, and coherently. The RNG just may favor those who are creative.
5) If you pick to fight a different demon, you can't chose that option again with the new monster. Also, running away is less likely to succeed.
6) If character attacks, demon retaliates.
7) Character can either be defeated (player's choosing) or retaliate.
8) The monster will retaliate a second time if attacked. This will determine victory or failure for the character.
9) Summary: Fights will involve no more than two comments from the demon being fought.

THE DEMONS

Currently, there are fifteen races of demons to be found in the Cave of Ordeals. There are five 'levels' of demons and each 'level' contains three demons. The higher the level, the more EXP a character gets, but also the more unlikely they are to win. It is a gamble! The list of demons are as follows, along with their encounter rates:

LVL 1 (30%)

MOTHMAN | ORC | SLIME

LVL 2 (25%)

WARCAT | SEA MONSTER | FELYNN

LVL 3 (20%)

SHINIGAMI | MYSTIC BEAST | DRAGON

LVL 4 (15%)

ZOMBIE DRAGON | WOOD GOLEM | SERPENT

LVL 5 (10%)

SURT | BACIEL | ENTEI
