I think I have many plans to implement. Thanks to Erica for IMing me with the explicit intent of encouragement, making me realize that I have questions that need answering before totally giving up on a better job, despite all current sources telling me there is little to no hope

scotter could be an excellent idea for you - or at least a bicycle? if the bus has a place on the front to put a bike, it would at least save the 20 minutes of stupid walking and let you get around a little on your own.

i think you have a good grip on what should happen with your jewelry, but maybe don't do it all at once? that would be a pretty drastic change, so why not start with the most obvious/least professional ones and work from there.
