"It's the seal of disapproval!" - David, on baby seals with weird faces

Nov 20, 2006 15:17

I'd like to start this entry out by saying that I have NO IDEA how I forgot to mention Sarah's wedding. How could I have overlooked that?! Eh, well, I am mentioning it now. She's getting married (I guess you gathered that, though) and I am flying back home to be a bridesmaid. That's going to be next October, though, so it's quite a-ways away. I'm ( Read more... )

Yikes! Explosive dinnerware sounds pretty random and non-spectacular. I can't get Smithfield Ice Tea shipped to you because of the weight, but would you settle for some sweat tea bags? Do you have a fav brand?

!!!
You are my hero!!!
I would love some tea bags, but I do not know how successful the brewing will be. Our water is all limey and when I first attempted to make tea, it was cloudy. Yick! I have since purchased distilled water but I cannot get the tea-to-sugar ratio correct. Are these sweet tea bags you speak of pre-sweetened, or formulated to make sweet tea? I am currently using...Luzianne, I think. I just bought some at the commissary since Germans don't do iced tea.

If they come pre-sweetened, I would definitely like to try it. It may prove far more successful than the traditional recipe I keep botching. You are seriously my hero, though...I'm getting TeaT's...like, Tea Tremens. LOL I'm a nerd.

Christmas presents are hard!!! I started my official list today, and there are so many blanks on it...Thankfully, there's a traditional German Christmas Market, so I have a feeling that the types of gifts people would want from Germany can be found there, if David and I ever go to look. ^_^

This is my absolute favorite jewelry company. I've decided I AM going to buy my wedding rings there.

I'm so sorry about the asploding dishes. I know how much dishes+microwaves suck sometimes. :(

I guess I forgot a detail...no microwave was involved! Even weirder! I did have a cup explode in a microwave once, a long time ago... but we don't have a German microwave yet. I have to actually boil the water and so on. So it was just a bowl I poured my boiled ramen into that randomly exploded. Like I said, if it had been a cold bowl and exploded immediately, I would have understood...but I'm still baffled.

My senior year I got my ear pierced at WalMart, way up at the top, and it stayed hot all the time, as if I had a heating pad on it, and red. I couldn't stand it, and the day I took it out it hurt so bad I cried for 5 minutes after it was out- my body just didn't want a hole in my there. I took my brother to get his eyebrow pierced when he turned 15, and his eye rejected it. Within a week it had pushed itself completely out, leaving him with a little scar where it once was. Blah, it happens. Oh, by the way, guess who's about to be an aunt?!

I have a feeling that, since you got it pierced at Walmart, assumedly with a gun, that's probably the reason your ear gave you such trouble. Those guns are really bad news...they can't be sterilized properly, and from the way they work, they've been known to shatter folks' cartiledge. If it was something you really had your heart set on having, I'd recommend spending the money for a professional piercer, but I have a feeling you don't care either way now, especially with the bad experience you did have. That sounds like a really nasty infection.

Eyebrow rings are notorious for rejecting, since they are essentially surface piercings, and most people really don't have enough eyebrow space to anchor the jewelry. It really sucks that Len's rejected, though. I hope he isn't really self-conscious about the scar.

I bet it's you who's gonna be the aunt! I really didn't know Len was that serious with his girlfriend, though. Oh, wait...David's family, duh. ^_^

Actually, you are right on both accounts. David's sister is pregnant, and Len's girlfriend is pregnant. Its his first girlfriend and he is very serious about her, though I've questioned how serious she is about him. Either way, they're pregnant and looking to move into an apartment together soon. Yeeeeaaaaahhhh, so many mixed feelings about that situation, they will have to come in the form of a private email. Bleh..

first off, you must have SOME luck, because I think the bowl exploding in your hands would be a LITTLE bit worse. can you imagine it happening as you walked up the stairs, falling down, and having the rescuse team have to come and find you covered in ramen? I believe it is a scene for a movie.

also, this was the ring we've chosen http://www.titaniumrings.com/temporaryspecials/eclipseB.html

and the BEST place to find dresses in this area is called "Bridal mart". it is in burlington. tell her to be sure to go on a WEEKDAY because saturdays it is like a cow corrale of wedding dresses. they have over 3,500 dresses and SUPER nice sales people who are knowledgeable and helpful and honest about what will look good on who.

omg I actually loled at your speculative movie scene. I am seriously afraid of these stairs, though. Germans must be really adventurous, to have so many of them.

We are wedding ring buddies now! That's the same style of ring we got, except ours has the silver inlay. It's a rather classic shape.

I'm imagining all these ladies in cow-print wedding dresses, mooing and stumbling over one another, packed into a tiny, fenced-in area. It's hilarious.

Yay, I used theknot too, I love checklists. As for dresses, I got my dress at Debs in the mall (a prom dress originally) and my bridesmaid dresses at Target (with some alterations). My friend got her dresses at My Back Porch in FV, the consignment shop. I went the cheap route, but for those who were at my wedding I think most would say they couldn't tell. I do well on budgets, so if Sarah needs any advice on cheap buys, I've got the hook up, yo.
