I think I'm going to try retail again as far as looking for a part-time job. It's what I have experience in, unfortunately, and seems to be the only thing that's hiring now. I know the pay is crap, but well, I'm broke ( Read more... )

good idea not working somewhere that would tempt you to buy things and I totally agree on the credit card thing, I hate when they offer it.
Maybe you could also try like Babies R' Us, if they have that where you are. Also how about clothing stores that are more for boys then girls.

We don't have a Babies R' Us around here, unfortunately. I just hope they don't have Hello Kitty stuff in Toys R' Us!!

Yeah, I was thinking a male clothing store...though I would be tempted to buy my brother things, but it wouldn't be as bad. Plus I could get paid to help cute guys hehe :)

i think you would have to REALLY like pets to work in a pet store. think of all the animal poop and vomit and stuff you're probably going to encounter at one time or another... i'd go with a grocery store or even a kids' store (toys or clothes) before i went for a pet store, but maybe that's just me ( ... )

Oh yeah!!! I totally didn't think of the bodily fluids/waste issue. eww eww eww.

Hmm...I should check out the waitressing. I do have a connection at TGIFridays...my brother worked there for awhile....

I've gotten a few suggestions on the grocery store, so I will have to look into that as well.

You should consider working in a coffee shop. Its pretty decent and you also get tips.

I have no advice or experience to share, I am sorry. But I wanted to wish you good luck with your job hunt :)
Although my child like side is impressed at the idea of working in toys r us, i wouldn't be working but just sitting there playing with babies and toys, haha.
