Music of the Decade

Jan 01, 2010 20:01

One thing I've been disappointed about is the fact I did not find a countdown to the "biggest songs of the decade" on the radio this year.  I remember when they did the 90s...Nirvana was #1 I think...the Macarena was high up as well.  I know Rolling Stone did an issue on it...but I want to hear from you guys...what were the songs/singers/bands that ( Read more... )

I've seen loads on the tv for countdowns on this side of the pond. I think every music channel did there own little ones, but I would have liked to see an official one for the last decade - so much change in everything really ( ... )

Leona Lewis' "Bleeding Love" got a lot of play over here...she has a great voice.

Thank you for your comment! How did you find my journal?

I love, love, love Lady Gaga. She is definitely my favorite artist of 2009. I would have to think awhile to go back for the last decade. Britney Spears would be on my list, she's one of my favorites and always has been, despite what other people think!

I definitely should include Britney...I guess since she came out in 1999 I associate her with that decade for some reason. Toxic is a great song!

yeah i was wondering about this too. on the canadian music channel, much music, they played The Top 100 videos of the 2000s, but they only showed it once. i would think they could show it more than once because i missed half of it

i think for me, personally, i would say Coldplay is the band of the decade. when Yellow first came out it was so big and i thought they were going to be a one hit wonder but they really did stand out for me the whole decade long. i'm not even that big a fan of them, but they're music is pretty good

It's funny because I hated Yellow. Then for some reason I bought the album because it was super-cheap at Best Buy...and fell in love with them. My song back in the day was Trouble from that album...

i know there's more, but i'll never forget the madness with no strings attached and britney spears starting out.

plus you can't forget carson daly's cheesy comments on trl.

it so was! i miss those days of mtv, and when trl was good. mtv isn't the same without crowds lining up outside to see their favorite musicians.

I swear I'm the only one in the entire world that doesn't care for Lady GaGa! I mean her music can be catchy but I just don't find her that talented! Am I missing something?!

I didn't like her at first either...but then listened to her album and loved working out to it at the gym. She's not the most original singer out there, but her songs are so damn catchy!
