I'm going to be glad to leave PCDS this spring.

I love PCDS. Great school, great faculty, great friends. But I've simply had enough of the same. Plus I'm seriously worried about the direction the upper school is taking ( Read more... )

The Cum Laude stuff really doesn't affect me, but I agree. The school is falling apart. This Thompson/Campbell team is horrible. You can see the dissent in the student body, and even in the faculty. Hopefully, we as a school can ride out the bad weather.

I'm not as excited as you to leave PCDS. Despite its faults, I really love the place. I think we forget just how special this school is. When our grave injustice is having the teachers discuss rationally with us balloon theory, we have it pretty good. At least we're not worried about having class interrupted for commercials, having every kids personal information (GPA, address, etc.) posted freely on the internet, truly incompetent teachers, or a truly uncaring administration. (all of which I had in public middle school)

I really love the place too. The whole direction thing alone wouldn't be enough to make me happy to leave. The teachers are great, and I'll definitely miss all the people there. Its also (I guess I didn't talk about it as much) that I am just sick of the same old. Its basically developed over the past couple of months. I want to get to college, out of the same old same old shit. Keep in mind that I've been at PCDS 5 years longer than you. I just want to get out of the house, out of PCDS, off to college.

Agreed, 100%.

They forget that if PCDS is dumbed down, those of us who need the kind of challenge it provides have absolutely nowhere else in the state to turn. Anyone who DOESN'T want to be in this environment has many, many other options.

Plus, I'm so ready for college it's insane.

Cum laude is fucked up.

I hate schools that try to make everybody feel equal, when really prep schools should be a meritocracy.

CPS is similar to PCDS. It's a load of bureacracy and bullshit.
