Has anyone see any Kurosawa films? Anybody like him and want to rec me a film or two? I've never seen any of his films which I think is a sad omission to my movie watching.
You can feel any worse than me....here i am in NYC trying to get a career in films, and I haven't seen a single one of his! Definitely adding Rashomon to the Netflix list. Thank you! Now I just have to be in the mood for the subject matter, very dark looking.
Seconding Rashomon -- with the disclaimer that although I fell asleep, it was a beautiful film with excellent storytelling. (This is the one that's famous for re-telling the same story from four or five different perspectives.)
Also see Ran, one of his later films -- an adaptation of King Lear that totally rocks.
Ooooh, isn't that icon from a book? The one where she spreads the purple flowers? Or maybe I'm making that up.
Anyway, thanks for the recs! That's a second vote for 'Rashomon' so I better move that up on the list! And wasn't 'Ran' in the library in Bath? I feel like I kept meaning to rent it and then never did.
I agree that Rashomon is a really good movie! He did a lot of samurai films but I actually really like some of the non-samurai ones...I recommend Nora Inu (Stray Dog) and Tengoku to Jigoku (High and Low) which are both kind of suspense-y. (^-^)
I'll check out the rest of the journal now! Hope things are going good with your job & everything! ttyl~~~
Well hello there! I can't believe I didn't point out my journal to you sooner...where's my head it? I'm telling you, school ended and all my brains went out the window.
Thank you for the film recs! I have several on my list now! So many films and so little time...but I do like suspense! I really want to write a suspense film but I can't come up with a brilliant plot, which they really need to stand out from the rest.
Oh, did I not tell you about the job? It was only temp so it only lasted three months. I'm currently being shuffled around, barely making ends meet but...eh, I'm living a sort of fream so I don't care for the moment. Interview tomorrow though. *singers crossed*
