Writing The Joker

Aug 13, 2008 07:45

For those of you who listened to my voice post on Monday, Sue's funeral is tomorrow at 11:00. It was heartbreaking to see her picture and name and information listed in the obituaries yesterday. It still hasn't completely sunk in.

I somehow missed your voice post... and don't have speakers here at work to listen but I am sorry to hear you have lost someone. Her family and you are in my thoughts... *hugs*

I know you said you want to make some TDK icons - but magisterequitum has several that she snagged from a couple communities and then Cookie (angeliksmall) has a couple as well.

I'm curious to see this Joker fic... I am particularly intrigued to see if you can, as you say, break him. I'd love to see inside his mind. I'm sure it's a dark and twisted place; though I know that he has a backstory. I don't think he was always crazy. It would be interesting to see where you take it. If anyone can write it, I know you have the skills....

Thanks for the vote of confidence! I would like to have a go at it. I may find that after I start thing I can't make it work, but it's worth a shot. Eventually. I've got a few fics on my plate to write, too.

The fun thing about the Joker is that he has no canon background. Quoth Mr J himself, "If I'm going to have a past, I prefer it to be multiple choice!"

The closest to canon is renowned comic "The Killing Joke" which is the closest to canon you'll find for him. It's a really fantastic comic, to be quite honest. It's the one that inspired Burton and Nolan the most for their Jokers. It's easy to see why (and just as easy to pick out exactly what bits each used-- especially Nolan). Highly suggested reading.

I'm going to have to look into "The Killing Joke." It sounds very interesting.

it is. I cant imagine itd be too hard to find around the net, it's probably the most well-known of the Joker comics for it's Epicness.
