It's a chicken or egg situation; is there something about becoming a landlord that blinds you to basic human sensibilities or is the profession dominated by people whose ability to empathise with others was already terminally stunted

I'm sure that is an infringement of your rights. Try contacting the citizens' advice bureau and see what you can do to make it stop.
