I forgot to mention that I have now become the IV master. I've come to seriously enjoy throwing a tourniquet on someone's arm, finding a nice juicy vein, prepping the site, and... the best part, inserting a nice big needle into their arm and advancing that plastic cannula. I've seen so many occasions (particularly with Janet) where the IV stick was very problematic. There was a time when they called in the "paramutuals" (heh, I love that joke) - ok, the paramedics - to get it right! The fact that you are good at this makes you very valuable - even if only the patients truly appreciate it ;)

Can I ask for you next time I need an IV? I'll pay for your gas or whatever it takes to get you there!

Congratulations on having some time off. "Virtual" silence is a beautiful thing - and "decompression" after a hectic run of days working is essential. "Burnout" is not a pretty sight!

Enjoy - you've certainly earned it.
