I'm having a major craving for spaghetti and garlic bread. Like, I've wanted it since Thursday morning and haven't had stuff to make it b/c I was babysitting and stuff. So tonight when discussing dinner, we pondered Olive Garden vs Macaroni Grill ( Read more... )

Spaghetti has been by far my biggest craving. It must be angel hair and it must be fresh. I have some almost every day, and I can make it in 8 minutes exactly. It's fabulous. And cheap - the pasta is usually $1 for a pound and I'll eat 1/4-1/3 at a time, so say 30 cents per serving. I just get Kroger spaghetti sauce, also for $1 and that usually comes out to 25 cents per serving. Sooo, about 50-60 cents for one of my many meals on any given day. Not too bad.

Oh and for the garlic bread, get a big loaf of the cheap bread in the bakery section (there is usually some nice french bread or something for $1-2). Then put butter, a little olive oil, garlic powder, salt and pepper on it (and cheese if you are into that - block cheese is usually the cheapest, on sale a lot, and easy to grate) and bake at 250 for 15 minutes or so. You can get a lot of servings out of that.

Oh holy crap, my cheapness is showing. Is it sad that I go through this process in my head almost every time I buy something?
