Sad, and painful because Moragn's silence is so realistic.
I'm not sure wether as a grown-up he doesn't tell his mother because he is still too haunted by it, or because he doesn't want to hurt her.

I love the "He could always have said it" because that's such a great and true realization for Morgan-the-adult to come to. Of *course* he could have, and of course she would have believed him.
