Time: May 6th, 2001 Status: Private, Sphix, Loki, (Anathema and/or Gabriel, if they want to) Setting: The hospital wing Summary: Sphix goes to see Loki
There was the familiar sound of his door opening and Loki looked up. A woman stood there, hand on the handle, looking unsure. Had she walked through the wrong door maybe and was now wondering whether to apologise or just walk out?
Loki was bored, though. A visitor promised entertainment. He did not want her to go.
"Hello," he greeted in the first language that came to mind, which just happened to be an old variant of Icelandic. "You look familiar."
"Are you trying to be funny? I'm not understanding a word", Sphix said. She stepped away from the door, closer to the god. "I came to say good bye. For what it's worth."
"Oh," Loki realised. "I speak several languages and I didn't even know it. Why are you going?"
If she'd come to say good bye, she must know him, he thought. But he didn't know her and that was a real pity. He wished he had the chance to get to know her.
"Are you going far away? Will you be back soon?" Maybe he could go visit her, if he ever got better, or maybe she'd visit him again when she returned.
"Your mind is still messed up, isn't it? Why, they couldn't even let you die in peace." She shook her head. "I don't know how far I will go. Somewhere else, in any case. The police is here, and I do not wish to deal with them."
"We won't be seeing again. By the time I could contact you, you will already be dead."
Anathema had been sleeping. That wasn't unusual, she was human and needed sleep after all, bu tit was unusual to wake up at the desk. She looked around and wonderd if Gabriel was about or if he was in his room.
She heard voices coming from Loki's room, and one of them, a female, seemed rather agitated and had said her name.
Standign up, she hurried over and peeked inside. It was the sphinx. Ah, that explained the agitation then.
"Hello? Soemone call my name?" she asked. You never know in this place, she may have been imagining it.
This one seemed familiar. Loki was pretty sure that he'd seen her before and that she'd seemed nice enough, but then he didn't know either of these women.
"You messed up my mind?" he asked her in a slightly lost and pleading tone. What was he supposed to do, if she denied it? How could he tell who to trust?
And that police stuff? It sounded really scary. If such people were here, it might be better to leave, but where could one go, if one kept forgetting things? He'd probably forget where he was headed long before he got there.
Aanthema shifted from foot to foot. "Your mind got a bit...jumbled after a spell that was meant to fix something else. The curse was lifted, which means that the spell worked, but there were unfortunate side effects. The likelihood that this memory loss is temporary is very high, so I wouldn't worry too much about it. You'll be fine."
"Likelihood?" Loki yelped. "What do you mean likelihood? You don't even know for sure? I want my memory back now! I don't even remember my friends and she," He nodded at Sphix since he didn't remember her name. "Says there's some danger here that I don't even know how to recognise."
Okay, he was scared. Was it okay to be scared? Some vague memory hinted that maybe it wasn't, but he couldn't remember why and that scared him even more.
