The Christianity Outline Continues

The effort at outlining Christianity continues... Thank you all for the previous input!  According to www.religioustolerance.org there are currently at least 1,200 distinct Christian sects within North America at this time.

This last bit has been a contentious article of faith since the very beginning of Christianity. But the consensus for most Christian churches, based on the doctine of Anthansius, is that there is only one God who has three parts: a Holy Trinity. Jesus was God and also the Son of God. Make sense? No I don't get it either, but historically it was a compromise to keep the church from splitting into pieces.

Thanks. That does make more sense, if the definition was a political decision, then that's why it sounds so weird. I guess the church did split into pieces anyway, though...

I studied Religous Studies at school and I still don't understand a load of it lol!
I thought that Christians believed that God is like everything, except Jesus, and Jesus was the son of God like a whole seperate thing.

Hmmmm, that is what Sean claimed. If that's true though, then I don't get why so many people pray directly to Jesus.

Maybe because they find Jesus more.......human if that makes any sense! I mean, Christians believe God created the earth which makes God pretty damn powerful. But Jesus was the one who actually lived as a human, who walked the earth and then died for humans so maybe people think that although God's great, Jesus made the ultimate sacrifice and should get a whole lot of praise!
