Dumbing down?

I upgraded to Internet Explorer 7.0 in the interests of tabbed viewing and security updates. What I've found is that most of the actual word-buttons are gone and have been replaced by cutesy little icons. I found myself getting pissy around this. I realize it's not familiar and that once I've used it a bit more it will be more routine. But routine ( Read more... )

How much does Sean use your puter? I am asking because I've been considering getting a cheapo pc for Amber to use for her learning games, but just recently I have been reconsidering her using our pc (both Scott and I use our labtops primarily).

That so funny that you mention that, as it is going to be Sean's bday present next month. We found a cheap one from tiger direct. It actually turned out to be a bit nicer than Mike's desktop so he's switching everything over and we'll give Sean his old one.

He doesn't go on it every day. But he plays the game Chuzzle on my folk's pc. (color coordination game) And I found the Fairy version of the game so he plays that on mine. When my brother babysat him one night they went onto noggin.com or other educational activity sites and he did really well with it. I know at school they have several games that they play and he's pretty comfortable with.

Plus he loves to just go into MS Paint and make artwork. So I guess I would say that he's not on the computer very often, but when he is on it, he really enjoys it and (so far) everything has been educational or just plain safe fun.

DL Mozilla or Firefox. I use Mozilla, it's got tabs with words, MUCH less viruses than IE and MUCH less invasive crap that stores records of what you've been surfing. And it does not make you feel like a small child. I know what you mean about the new IE. I've used it away from home and hate it.
