Um, Happy New Year?

Once again, I am sadly derelict in my blogging duties. But I think of you all, rather often, honest! I just need to transfer that thought energy into actually writing to you. My computer is threatening to divorce me; I never turn it on anymore. . .

If you're interested, here's a recap

September - sister Megan got married, much drinking and dancing ensued; Jerm came to visit a couple weeks later, we went on a road trip to Monterey, Death Valley and Yosemite and then Jerm went off on his own to see other National Parks.

October - Jerm returns, we go play in SF together. Meet up with Laurel and Duncan (separate occasions) and play some more.

November - nothing much - had a nice Thanksgiving dinner, started gearing up for "the holiday season".

December - turned 30, had a big party; Christmas was calm but fun; bought some dungeness crabs for New Years Eve dinner, invited friends and neighbors over, lots of wine and champagne bottles were inexplicably empty the next morning. . .

and today, I got myself another cat.

um. see, I went to the animal shelter for volunteer orientation. I planned to be trained to work with the bunnies, since I can't have one and wouldn't be tempted to bring one home with me. Except that I went by the cat room on a tour of the facility and then again on my way out and fell in love. Northawke can tell you this is not the first time, and that I'm probably an idiot to be setting foot inside a shelter, let alone volunteering there. But, this guy is a real cutie and he's been there for over 6 mos and he needs a home and someone to pounce on - Smoky is getting bored and destructive, so I can solve two problems with this one action (even though one of the problems wasn't technically my own). But that leaves me with another quasi problem. I don't know what to name him. The people at the shelter call him "Ace", which would only be acceptable if he looked anything at all like Chris Barrie.

Any suggestions?

I'm considering "Karo" because he makes me think of the popcorn balls that my (soph yr) roommate Julie made with karo syrup. I have a few days to decide, because I don't get to take him home until the 17th. Poor Ravioli doesn't know what she's in for.

catching up
