Nice. If I didn't already know the ending that'd make me want to go along !

Werewolf: The Apocalypse

The people who get surprised by the overarcing metaplot for this game were probably the sort who were shocked when (spoiler!) the big boat sank and the end of the Titanic. Or when Romeo and Juliet didn't skip off into the sunset...

Is Blitzkrieg (meaning Lightning War, and implying a rapid, higly mobile offensive) the right word here?

I'm not entirely sure what the right word would be, but to me, at least, Blitzkrieg conjures up images of the Nazis taking over Europe, which to me, isn't quite right...

Individual strikes during the Blitz were fast. But it went on for a long time...

Trying to find the appropriate quote, there is one somewhere about 'You are the front line now', in reference to the ordinary households 'under attack' from the bombing.

Did, however, find this:

"I have, myself, full confidence that if all do their duty, if nothing is neglected, and if the best arrangements are made, as they are being made, we shall prove ourselves once again able to defend our Island home, to ride out the storm of war, and to outlive the menace of tyranny, if necessary for years, if necessary alone ( ... )

From a history website for schoolkids:

Yeah, I know.

It's an evocative phrase, and obviously it conjures up different images for different people.

Anyway, I differentiate between the Blitzkrieg (military strategy) and the Blitz (event), if that makes sense...

London's lights flicker and go out.
Birmingham groans beneath overwhelming numbers.
Reading and Stratford - Weaver strongholds.

Sheffield, on the other hand, is just buggered.

A question I've been meaning to ask for a few days... Is there going to be ST provided reason for people to abandon the defence of their caerns in order to go to the grand moot? Currently most caerns are on high alert and half the defenders wandering off for a meet up without a good reason to believe their caerns are safe...

I was wondering about spirits with good comomunication and moonbridges (ie the moment there is trouble back home people can moonbridge back) but it is a thought that has vaguely been troubling mme on IC grounds...

It's something I've been thinking about...

On an OOC basis: ANST can give assurances.

On an IC basis: a lot of NPCs are starting to come out of the woodwork - reluctant cubs who never wanted anything to do with the Nation, but have found themselves suddenly cliath & considered adult; kin enthused by the all-call; garou who went anruth/ronin coming back to their old caerns because they're needed...not necessarally people you could depend on for long-term aid in defences, but certainly people who can help boost numbers.

From an Oxford perspective, Cat's is staying at the caern, so will be coordinating anyone staying. To be honest, we don't have that many PCs who are regularly at the caern who will be going - it's just that it becomes *obvious* how few defenders caerns have when people go off in an organised fashion, rather than in dribs and drabs.

*nod* I figured that cat's would be staying at home. And I figured that something could be blagged for albion (which I will probably chat to you about later just to find out how he's doing etc.) since its meant to be a lovely spirity place so getting some spirits to stand in for a couple days shouldn't be hard. Just thought it worth raising so that it can be covered a bit more IC to prevent too much suspension of disbelief. And so that if people say IC "Is the defence of your caern sufficient" at the national people don't have to say "Yeah, I'm sure bob and fred can handle whatever the wyrm throws at the place and I'll be back on monday". :) I'm already doing something of a suspension of disbelief on oxford.

And I have also realised that oxford is the caern in this country that it probably takes me longest to get to since virtually every other one is a stone's throw from webbing that I can saunter down. rollrights is in the middle of quite a lot of countryside comapratively... :)
