Another too long drabble... I really need to work on just being 100 words.
Title: Love is a fairy tale (That doesn't exist)
The leaves blew noisily in the breeze, swaying in the wind as they fluttered amongst another, scraping the branches feverishly.
Looking up at the darkened sky due the canopy of leaves above her, the girl gave a contented sigh as the sereneness of the moment took hold of her as one, digging deeper into her soul sharply.
Lips twitched as thunder sounded in the distant, the thick scent of rain already rolling off the clouds in layered sweetness.
To her, this was heaven as she watched from her window, the fading sun fighting to not be consumed by the rising darkness as the two ying and yang swirled in artistic unison. Neither willing to give in, not because they didn’t want to loose but so they could be with another longer.
Night and day
Complete opposites and yet no other fit them as well as they did each other, they were practically soul mates.
A feeling she had never experienced and didn’t have high hopes of accomplishing in the near future. It just seemed to tedious to her, the trails of love and all they stood for, overcoming great evils and sharing the sweetest of kisses that sugar couldn’t offer. It seemed all like a fairy tale to her… and she hated fairy tales.
No, that was a lie. Once she had loved them, she had strived for her very own, had more than anything wanted to grasp hold of this thing called “love” and never let it go. She wanted to know what the big fuss was about and wanted to say that she too knew what everyone was talking about when they mentioned that certain someone.
It’s better to have loved and lost then never have loved at all, that’s what they all say. But she strongly disagrees.
Sitting by her window she thinks back to the days of innocent kisses, shy touches and heartfelt words. They had promised that they would always be together, they had vowed it, one in the shape of a small gold ring she now carried on a chain around her neck. Love was supposed to take them far; they would be able to travel the world just on that alone.
But love failed them, he failed her. No goodbye, no apology - nothing. She was alone, hurting and bitter.
There was no such thing as true love, no soul mates or happy endings. It was all just something made up in a fairy tale to taunt humans into chasing after impossible dreams. She felt this way now, as she watched the first rain drops splash against the window pane drearily.
The gray clouds singing over her never ending misery.
