Once more going against an actual drabble, (it's more than 100 words) but it's that dratted theme again *sighs* right... hm, this also has mention of another non-drabble writing
Of Sun Showers. You could check it out if you want make sense of a few things, but I don't think you'll be terribly lost.
Title: When there’s no more light
The night was settling quickly, the sereneness of the sun shower was quickly fading into everlasting darkness as the mismatched pair (in so many ways) found their way traveling down the familiar path leading to the car.
The girl’s gaze lingering on the old spruce tree regrettably as she let out a sigh, the boy coming to take her hand in his own
“Come on, we can come back another day” he whispered reassuringly in her ear, placing a chaste kiss to her temple, but it only withdrew another sigh
“I know, just…”
“It was beautiful I know” he answered with a chuckle, the other hand rising up to run through messy blonde locks and she giggled as water splashed her face. He only offered a wry grin, invading her personal space to claim a quick peck, which turned to more as the two embraced in the middle of the pathway, entangled in another’s arms.
Her nimble fingers ran through his hair, and his calloused hands ran down her sides sending a wave of pleasing shivers.
The sky went from a bright blue and was quickly dropping in contrast, what was little left of the setting sun in the west, was tinged pink. Lavender stretching from here to there filling in the spaces, as the first stars winked into existence
They didn’t want to let go, but unfortunately that annoying dependence on air got in the way and they pulled apart, panting. Though as they gazed at another, their eyes shone with a hidden love not many could understand when it came to them.
What they shared was rare, like those of orange sun showers, and the first stars in the sky, even when it was still daylight out.
“Do you love me?” she asked suddenly, as they began their previous trek back to the car
Offering a teasing smile he inclined his head towards her ear, his breath tinkling her in new sensations thought impossible. His husky whisper of “Yes” causing her to blush
She smiled shyly, honestly thinking she was the happiest girl alive at the moment, “Good”
He chuckled, his deep laughter ringing throughout nature as if conquering it. To her, it was the most beautiful laugh she had ever heard, even if it came from a boy
“Are you happy now?” he asked in return, as they neared the car and he pushed her against the hood, arms winding around to rest on her faulted island hips (at least she thought so)
Giggling she mimicked his actions as she leaned into to his touch, “Yes”
He grinned, “Good”
Behind them the sun was no more, resting for the night as darkness completely surrounded them, wrapping them in its velvety blanket. If they had even cared to notice, it might have been a very moving sight, like the shower they had witnessed moments before.
However, too focused on another which all their world seemed to consist of, they did not. As the boy started the car, she doing up her seat belt beside him, shyly they held hands after he shifted the gear and started to slowly back away from their labeled paradise.
For even in darkness, there was some light.
