Ronon looked over at the strangers again before resuming his inspection of their belongings. The scent that had called to him out in the woods was weak on the objects in his hands, but if he concentrated, he could still smell it.
Glancing farther into the cave, he could clearly see the two figures tied back-to-back. Man and woman. Both lightly carrying that alluring scent, providing him with a compelling reason to only stun them, then bring them back to his cave: they knew his Guide.
After so many years on the run, traveling from planet to planet, he'd given up hope of ever finding his Guide. And even if he did find his Guide, Ronon knew he could never claim him or her. Not with the Wraith transmitter buried in his flesh. How could he protect his Guide when he was a living beacon to the enemy? An enemy who would suck the life force out of the most important person in Ronon's universe.
No. He had to get rid of the transmitter before he could go and claim his Guide. It was that simple.

Dr. Rodney McKay hated fieldwork. If this was a perfect world, he could sit in his lab all day making incredible breakthroughs that would change mankind forever, taking only brief respites in order to gracefully receive his Nobel prizes. However, this was not a perfect world, and here he was, being led around this solar-radiated forest filled with solar-radiated plants by a crazed Super Ford looking for some 'guy' who'd kidnapped Colonel Sheppard and Teyla.
Did he mention that he was surrounded by solar radiation? Dangerously high levels of solar radiation. It looked like kids were definitely off the menu now.
And, of course, he had no hope of rescue. Not only were they constantly on the move, but, as Rodney and Major Lorne had explained to Dr. Elizabeth Weir earlier, the HUD was useless for finding life signs on this planet and the dense foliage prevented visual sweeps from the Jumper.
Yes, it looked like he was stuck with door-to-door Wraith enzyme salesman Super Ford for a while…

Aiming his blaster at Lt. Col. John Sheppard and Teyla Emmagen, Ronon considered the proposition they posed to him only moments after getting free from their bindings, pulling their guns on him, and being disarmed by him, yet again. They offered to bring a doctor to remove the tracking device…an offer too tempting to ignore. If the tracker was taken out, he could finally claim and bond with his Guide. Just the thought of it made Ronon want to lower his weapon and send Sheppard for the doc.
But could he really trust them? They’d turned their weapons on him, but even then, they said they didn’t want to stop or hurt him. Said that all three of them were on the same side. That they only wanted their friend, Ford, back. He wondered if they would say the same thing when he took his Guide from them. And, in the end, that thought was what made the decision for Ronon; he had to have his Guide, and they were handing him the perfect opportunity to do just that.
Lowering his weapon, he simply stated, “You get this tracking device out of me, I’ll get your friend back for you.” And then he’d get his Guide.
