[Spy died in Westport shortly after Denmark, but he's taking it much better -- years and years of being axed through the face by men in masks and full-body suits has somewhat desensitized him. However, he's not all that eager to go back or immediately get involved in the panic again; he's not yet been informed about the declaration of martial law, ( Read more... )

[Have a confused Eruka. With how everyone was carrying on, she wasn't expecting to see not!husband so soon.]

Eh? You're back already? What happened?

[He shrugs, puffing on a cigarette.]

I died. Nozhing worth mentioning, really.

And you're alive right now? What'd you do, make a deal with Lord Death?

So tell me, what did you find in that Westport place that was so interesting?

Of course I have not made a deal with death. Zhis place must simply be equipped with a machine zhat brigs you back to life once you have died -- similar to what I have back 'home'.

As for what I found in Westport zhat was of interest -- not much. Zhe whole place is a war zone, and not a fresh one, eizher. Whatever happened, eet happened some time ago. All water is contaminated, zhere is no food, and zhere are roving groups of men in suits zhat attempt to kill anyone zhat gets too close. Eet is fairly standard, to be frank, but zhat doesn't make it any less worrying.

We can't tell them to kill themselves. We can't. That's just... it's not right to do that. I don't want to put any of my friends through this.

As for sharing intel, we've received two radio broadcasts directly from Westport, and one video that showed everyone and Westport itself in a perfect, happy state. The first broadcast seemed to be Olivier and another man being attacked by something, and the second was from Lucas and Flora. Lucas and Flora mentioned a man named Richard Grey.

I've also spoken to Grady. He's a filthy liar that we can't trust. He claims that Mayfield has both a radio and TV broadcast studio, but I've never seen them before. He also claims that the road still exists, but we both know that's a definite lie. He's hiding something.

A man named Sho Minamimoto is attacking citizens of Mayfield with bizarre creatures. He's called for Martial Law. It's very dangerous.

And I know you said not to ask, but... has there been any sign of BLU'S Engineer?

[Spy sighs. Ah, the young and naive.]

Non, I have not seen zhe BLU Engineer. He is most likely hiding in one of zhe houses zhat actually has running water. In any case, you will see him soon enough.

[He files away the information about the Westport broadcasts for further study, especially the mentioned 'Richard Grey'. He hadn't heard about this man before, and is slightly mad at himself that such an important piece of intel didn't come from his lips first.]

I will keep Monsieur Minamimoto in mind. I doubt one man could overthrow zhe entirety of Mayfield, but zhen, stranger things have happened here.

[And there... is that a hint of gentleness in his voice? Probably, and he's most likely only doing it for manipulative reasons.]

I would not suggest telling our comrades to let zhemselves be killed if I were not sure eet was zhe best solution. Zhe longer zhey stay alive in Westport, zhe more zhey will have to suffer; death, at least, can be quick and done without fuss. Eet is merely a means to an end.

[[He goes a little quiet when he hears "you will see him soon enough."]]

...Please don't say it like that.

[[After a moment of regaining his composure, he continues.]]

It's possible that they'll never escape, but it's also possible that there's a way to get everyone home. Nobody really knows for sure. I'd like to think there's a way.

[Spy actually laughs.]

Oh, but zhere is a way! I have already told you what eet is, but you are too idealistic to accept eet. Perhaps killing and being killed every day for years in my real life has made me somewhat insensitive to death. To die was -- is my job. Eet is nozhing to get worked up about, and I am sure your precious Engineer would share my sentiments on zhe matter; I've killed him more zhan once. Eet is professional courtesy, nozhing more.

Man, I love how everybody tells Spy pretty point-blank that he's a douche, and he just doesn't care. never_any_doubt May 6 2010, 16:34:30 UTC
Zhen zhat is your choice, monsieur. But think about zhe amount of suffering zhey will have to endure, should zhey continue to stay alive in Westport.

[Alright, maybe he's over-exaggerating -- he didn't see the worst of what the hazmat men can do, really. But he knows an inventive enemy when he sees one; soon they'll have more than axes and toxic gasses.]

But zhat is zhe easiest way to save zhem. Eet requires no effort on zhe part of anyone involved. Eet is quick, efficient, and easy to accomplish.

[He makes 'hrmph' noise and takes a drag on his cigarette.]

You people are so ridiculously heroic, and what you don't realize is zhat you aren't helping zhe situation any.

That's actually reassuring to hear. Mind letting those of us who didn't get stuck over there know what happened?

Oh, and someone calling themselves the Baddies League United is declaring martial law on this city. I figure he doesn't know how he is dealing with. Good to know though that others are back to deal with him if this gets out of hand.

Zhere is not much to tell, truly. Zhe majority of zhose of us who were trapped have fallen back to zhe housing districts for shelter, zhough zhere are stills zhose zhat are wandering and investigating (bafflingly, many of zhese are children, and zhe adults around don't seem to care zhat zhey are getting underfoot and becoming liabilities).

Zhere are men in hazmat suits wandering around as well, in groups of two to nearly ten. Zhey carry axes and hoses zhat spray toxic gas which burns zhe lungs and eyes.

As for zhis man who has declared martial law -- I was told about him, and I think he is merely posturing. No one man can take over an entire town without zhe support of its citizens.

It seems there have been attacks throughout town. He also seems to imply that he has help. Either way, he won't get too far.

We are the original BLU and I pity anyone else who draws attention using that acronym.

never_any_doubt May 6 2010, 19:34:41 UTC
[Spy could make several jokes about how this is because nobody would want to use the BLU acronym, since it stands for a group of untrained ruffians who constantly get their asses kicked by RED, but he feels that now is the wrong time for such childish antics.]

I cannot promise zhat I will be of much help, but if eet comes down to picking sides, I will not take his. I never choose zhe side zhat is going to lose.

[Viktoria is so relieved that she wasn't unlucky enough to end up trapped in Westport. The idea that dying is still no release from this place is utterly abhorrent to her.]

Your proposition is logical, but I doubt it will be that simple.

Reply

never_any_doubt May 6 2010, 19:02:27 UTC
Just because somezhing is simple does not mean eet should be discounted. If we overlooked zhe simple solutions in favor of what is harder, but more 'dramatic', we will only cause ourselves more problems.

plantenough May 6 2010, 20:11:00 UTC
Oh, I agree. It's too bad that fool that declared martial law last night hasn't learned that drama will get us nowhere. I simply think you are underestimating the resilience of the spirit.
