But that Smirnov guy needs help! We can't just turn on him! [/blind heroism]

I would expect as much from a naive child.

I will certainly commend you for having the boldness to dissent at a time like this. I'm certain you've already had some heated replies?

It may very well be in our best interests to cooperate, but perhaps not yet, while there are still so many questions to be answered. And I would much rather prefer to make our captors work for their prize than simply handing it to them.

I have. Eet was nozhing I did not expect, however.

As for making zhem work -- of course. I believe zhe optimal way to gather information while not causing a stir would be to shunt Smirnov from house to house, give zhem a run-around until we have exhausted his information, and zhen turn him in.

Smirnov has them excited because they cannot contain him. Should not an opportunity to escape Mayfield should be placed above the opportunity to not die, especially while in a place where death doesn't mean anything?

Eet is not zhe death zhat I care about. Do you realize how long torture could go on in a place where death does not exist?

[He's seen it before, Tak. People captured, tortured until they died -- and then allowed to respawn, so it could happen all over again.]

Mais, regardless. Smirnov is raving. I doubt he knows a way to escape, or he would have done eet already.

The nature of the phenomena could be researched and exploited.
