So I guess we've destroyed Caladbolg's employer, at least. I don't know what that means for the future, but I have a feeling that we're not done yet. It sounds like UFT was working on some kind of project that we don't know enough about - the report mentioned something about bioengineering. Also, Caladbolg wasn't there, and I don't think its ( Read more... )

Lots of people kill at some point. It doesn't make them a monster.

I just want to believe that we can put an end to this without taking any more lives than necessary.

Isn't that why we have all these amazing machines, though? To go beyond what we can or can't do?

[Hacked because Newtype. You got a problem with that?]

Fighting to save someone, or for something you believe in, doesn't make you a monster, even if you kill someone. It's just a sad fact of life that a lot of people would rather die than not fight.

How many of the GDF's enemies believe in what they're fighting for?

A few of them. Even the lunatics trying to take over the world have soldiers who think that's a damn good idea, for some reason.

Sometimes, though, killing people in battle is better than the alternative of letting them continue doing what they're doing. Judging from what I know about what happened to Shiro Hawthorne, this was one of those cases.

Simple, the fact that you continue to think about this stuff. If you had really become a monster? You wouldn't even stop to question that fact.

Thoughts don't save or take lives. Actions do.

Thought leads to action and action leads to thought, so it's not that clear cut. Especially since thoughtlessness and inaction also take and save lives.

Then what does it matter what I think now if I just get more and more used to killing people?

You did good out there. Never hesitated when it mattered.

That's what it comes down to, right? Do what you have to to survive.

It's that or don't survive.
