the dark knight: "good evening, ladies and gentlemen! we're tonight's entertainment!"

A review where I use “me” and “I” whilst also trying to sound pretentiously cool and intelligent by using big words. Sorry about how ridiculously long this is too.

wait, did you get Cillian's name mixed up there, or am I just not picking up the sarcasm for his extended cameo

stumbling around in a nurse’s uniform (possibly one of the funniest yet creepiest images ever created).
so true. There's a moment before he fiddles with the bomb switch where I was like, "This would make a fantastic icon." in a good way.

like the whole sonar thing throughout the film = BATS
whoa shoot I did not realize that

Haha, Cillian's name was completely sarcasm. It was nice that he was there, kind of shocking in a way, but nothing really "eventuated" with him...I guess they are planning on putting him in the third movie or something.

And yes that would make a fantastic icon, can't wait till someone has screencaps of that part! I didn't know whether to laugh or be terrified during that scene because he was blowing up a hospital but was acting in such a kooky hilarious way. *so difficult to know how to feel*

Yeah my friend noticed the sonar thing and mentioned it after the film. I had the same reaction of: "oh yeahhhh!" Hehehe. :D

hee, just clarifying because my brain wasn't entirely working at 3 AM...
yeah, I think he was there just to hint at a possible 3rd appearance and to show how Batman has dealt with the only remaining villain of the first film while also showing Batman doing the daily job.

yeah, the part where he had to fumble to fully blow up the hospital was a perfect instance of, "haha oh wait"

Unlike other super-hero films out there, the genius of Batman is that he isn’t treated like a comic-book superhero. Everything feels realistic both visually and emotionally and I think this is helped by the fact that Batman doesn’t have any “powers”.

I disagree. To me, Batman is inherently wrong, emotionally. Dude DRESSES UP AS A BAT to go fight crime. The place he lives is not my home. What makes Bruce's story atypically interesting to me is basically that he's insane, and it sort of works. (That's also why I really want him to find a Robin, because if there's anything that will put a spotlight on the hysteria of Gotham, it's a fourteen year old vigilante in armoured panties getting beaten to death with a crowbar by the Joker.) This pair of Batman movies has been the most respectful to the comics so far, in that sense.

You see, I’m a guy of simple taste. I enjoy dynamite, gunpowder, and GASOLINE!The parallel between Batman's high tech, Lucius-manufactured armoury and the Joker's knives and gasoline was awesome and vicious. Batman ( ... )

What I meant to say somewhere was: JOKER AWESOME AWESOME A+. He brung the mystery, insanity, all that stuff Batman movies need in spades. That whole world -- I guess it comes back to the first thing. For Batman to exist, their universe must be stranger than I can imagine, and in this incarnation, it is. Very satisfying.

Alright firstly LLL, stop showing me up. Hahaha. :D

Okay in response to your points that definitely have more informative grounding then mine. In terms of the realism thing, I don't think these films could handle a Robin or even a Catwoman. The Director has been all about taking the comics and trying to put as much reality as the story can take. I know dressing up as a bat to fight crime is way out there, that's why the response to Batman by the people of Gotham isn't "YAY IT'S BATMAN!" like all the kids do in Spiderman and Fantastic Four...it actually is scary and psychotic to see a man dress as a bat to fight the crime. So I guess I'm almost agreeing with you here because the guy is INSANE.

His mania is putting himself in danger to push back chaos. Joker doesen't even need a reason - he'll make up his own as he goes along, because he is chaos. YES! You're open up my world, when I see this movie again it is going to be even MORE AWESOME ( ... )

...Gotta admit, I'm sort of over-invested in the tertiary characters because I like them already. I think it clouds my movie-character viewing, because I want to see them done well in any movie. Also, maybe I overdosed on Bruce's man-pain a while back ( ... )

THIS MOVIE IS BEYOND AWESOME.

YOUR PICTURES JUST MADE ALL THE MEMORIES CAME BACK.

*giddy*

Seriously now, I was just about to post my own TDK preview, but I don't even know where to start, it's too awesome. The Joker? Chilling, hilarious, disturbing, intriguing, quotable - one of the best cinema creations, ever.

"And you killed six of my friends."
*mouths* "Six?"The delivery? GREATEST EVER. I now can fully understand the sadness losing Heath, he wasn't playing the Joker, he WAS the Joker. Pencil trick? CLASSIC. Nurse outfit? There aren't enough words! We lost a great one, we did ( ... )

I CAN'T WAIT to see this movie again. I have to wait until my friend gets back from Malaysia and I'm going to see it straight away. Watching the trailers over and over just isn't good enough!

I love it how you said the Joker is "one of the best cinema creations, ever." I TOTALLY agree. Hahaha, that "six?" quote was one of the funniest. Actually they were all extremely funny. Where to begin on how good the Joker was...

Yeah good point the first one with actually two personalities! Cooooool! Oh yeah and diving into the sea. Whooooooa.

Why so Sirius? Hahahaha, that made me laugh when I read that. YES I completely agree the cast wins. That's been similar with all Christopher Nolan films but it needs to be said again! ....except for maybe Katie Holmes, haven't been the biggest fan of her.

I need to see it like...1019812 more times? Just maybe...

HAHA, thanks for your thoughts, loved reading them! :D

I completely agree with everything you said. If I had to copy-paste what I agreed with back here, it would just be the whole entry. I think you hit the nail on the head with a lot of key points. This movie was brilliant. It transcended the genre. No other superhero movies (not even Iron Man) can say the same. Batman is grounded in reality, and instead of being comic-y or action-oriented, it's intensely dramatic and psychological. And, whoever said that it wasn't fun? It was SOOO much fun, and smart, too! The best combination!

Heath was incredible. I think he'll get a nomination. I think his performance is definitely hyped up because of his tragic death, but that doesn't mean that it wasn't still an incredible, fascinating take on a multi-layered psychotic killer. Definitely ranks as one of the top villains in film, ever.

You = my hero.

Wow, you write so well and I'm totally in agreement (not that it needs to be said) that the Joker does rank as one of the top villains in film, ever.

Oh this film was so much fun!! Have to see it again...and probably again....and then one more time again. Hehehe.

♥ hope you are well :)

I was a bit disappointed with two-face. Like LLL said, he died so quickly and easily. And he didn't seem to wreck much havoc either. Also Cindy or someone mentioned that he was two-faced already at the beginning of the movie, although I can't remember how.

I've seen more real life cat women than real life batmen :P
