Me too, except I have a paid account, which I won't be renewing when the time comes.

If they had apologiesed honestly, made reperation and assurances that this never will happen again - I would be the first to jump at the chance of a permanent account.

But I am not giving them one more dime unless I feel save with it. I don't need extra user pics that badly ...

The only thing that 6A care about is money. If someone buys a perm account then 6A already have their money - and so won't care how p'd off any perm account holders get. OTOH a paid account does give some leverage, since paid account users can effectively hold their future payments hostage for "good behaviour" by 6A.
