Yes, this is another one of those friends only journals. I've been doing this long enough to have reached the conclusion that it is probably for the best

hi. wanna be friends? you seem sensible, interesting, and we have friends in common. i don't think i know you in the real world, but then again it's entirely possible that i do.
sure. though i have to admit that i always feel badly when someone comes to my journal afer a comment i left on someone else's page about something remotely serious and then they find out that my journal is mostly drivel. well, not drivel exactly, but lots of personal stuff and me getting excited about what i ate for lunch.
i'm sure we know people in common somehow (doesn't everyone in brooklyn?), but my "friends only" status is mostly just to keep my professional life and personal life separate. anyway, you seem like you've got lots of interesting stuff going on. so yes, welcome.
sorta hard to use the friends-of-friends route when you've just uprooted yourself and moved to a completely new city, unfortunately.
and considering the options, meeting people by ye olde livejournal doesn't seem like such a bad choice. (Search: near Brooklyn, NY) your list of interests keeps showing up on my mental romping grounds:
urbanism - why else would i have chosen new york over sunny california (the other option)
six feet under - this show brought our grad student house together; the one thing we all made time for out of our netflix queue. at the end of the second season we started to wonder whether it had gotten too depressing to be fun any more, though...
parentheses - s-expressions arguably make the most flexible data structures
oxford english dictionary - the hallmark of an English major worth her salt. instant adoration for owning one.
npr - why yes, yes i do listen to npr
logic puzzles - no, i never spent a summer playing with one of thoselanguage - the more i design programming languages, the more i see how all
( ... )
alright! i think i was just taken a bit aback because i do think you'll see we're pretty different and was like "eh???", but i am into having a diverse friends list, and i am definitely into welcoming people to new york.
ps i only own the Shorter OED (two volumes), not the $1,000 26 volume set.
Hi - I don't know you (I don't think), but I'm a good friend of bklyndispatch. I keep seeing your posts to bklyndispatch's journal and thinking "this seems like a smart and interesting person who it would be good to know." So, if you don't mind adding me, I'd appreciate it. I'll do the same, of course.
smart and interesting until you find out that i'm just very easily distracted at work! i'm only giving the caveat because i feel like bklyndispatch's journal brings out the best in me and in my own journal i also talk about such important things as my hair and lunch. but yes, absolutely.
i'm another one of your fans via comments (in re prada and koolhaas) in bklyndispatch. i am adding you, and hope you will add me back. hair and lunch are practically my two favorite things.
