Am I the only one who hates this holiday dedicated to eating, something we already do every day, only to amounts so extreme that we get sick?

That's all you do, is you sit around and eat.

On any other day, you can go do whatever else between eating sessions. But on Thanksgiving, it's eat, sit around and wait for your stomach to make more room, and ( Read more... )

around my house, it was always one of the two times that we got extended family together, and friends who had gone away to college or other adult life came home to visit.

so, thanksgiving to me has always been more about the family time, conversation and catching up with loved ones than about the turkey.

tho, my dad DOES make the best thanksgiving dinner in the entire world, hands down. and we eat it for weeks afterwards.

yum!

the food is way WAY secondary...

Yeah, true, there is the family part. I guess I would be more excited for that if I didn't already see most of my family pretty often, since we all live in pretty much the same area.

What kind of American household doesn't shape their entire Thanksgiving day around football?

Ah, grandma has first say, and that means Oprah. One year it was pretty cool because Oprah was interviewing Harry Potter after his first movie. But usually there's, maybe an hour of football time altogether.

If you know anything from my past behavior, I treat every day like Thanksgiving.

IE: Jenn and I eating KFC at your birthday. Sorry, I still can't get over that.
