I know exactly who you talked to. And I have to say that Marxism is my chief notion of the perfect idea of government. But, it has flaws. The Bible makes room for human mistake, greed, desire for power, and pride ( in other words sin ). but socialism (or marxism) does not.
first read Mike's book to get an idea of the differences between the two, and secondly read Utopia which is a view or perspective of the perfect socialist government.
and hey, I'd love to talk about this with you. I didn't know you were into this. Geez, Danny Boy.
not only does this system not leave room for eror it's creator is a famous atheist. His famous (or one of) quote is "religion is an opium for the masses." anyway ill give you the book.
acts 4:32-end. spells out a socialist church in black and white. i don't fully understand marxism but i do know that there are biblical and unbiblical things in socialism and capitolism. i am not a socailist nor am i promoting...but regardless of your book...i think that there is a possibility for it to be a good thing. i want to read it though. <3
Chris Henry on Communism and Socialism: "It's stupid" Communism is a stupid idea. the whole concept is based on a violent revolution where they upperclass is slaughtered and the poor evenly distribute their goods basically. horrible. Marx is a wacko, anti-religious, violent nut. period. socialism doesn't work either. The early church cannot be used as a picture of government because the early church was a group of people that were saved and seeking God and expecting the end of the world. You can not govern a nation as you govern a church. People are selfish and slothful which means they will only work hard if they reap the benefits. the reason capitalism works in our fallen world so well. It's unrealistic to expect a nation to work on the principles of Christ when they are generally not Christians who are not being worked in by the Holy Spirit.
