1. Withnail and I -- grim comedy about a pair of boozy out-of-work London actors taking an ill-fated vacation in the countryside. Contains the immortal line "We've gone on holiday by mistake!"
2. Wisconsin Death Trip -- surreal collage-style history of a declining Midwestern town in the 1890s. A very, very weird book.
3. the Geraldine Fibbers -- eclectic, brilliant, but now sadly defunct LA country/punk band. They made two albums in the mid-90s, Lost Somewhere Between the Earth and My Home and Butch. There's also a compilation, harder to find, with one of my favorite album titles ever: What Part of Get Thee Gone Don't You Understand?
4. mrdankelly -- a writer in Chicago, posts about a wide range of random stuff, always entertaining

This doesn't fall into any of those categories, but did you ever watch Strangers With Candy on Comedy Central? It's out on DVD now and I've been on a quest to make everyone I know watch it, because it's AWESOME.
You might like BR-549, a rockabilly band with a great sense of humor. They have a song about Betty Page! I like their album "Live at Robert's." First heard them years ago on Conan.
1.) "Urbania." It's an adaptation of the play by the same name. Failing that, "Cabin Fever." It scared the shit out of me and that's not an easy thing to do.
2.) "Archangel Protocol" by Lyda Morehouse. Christian mythology + classic cyberpunk = the yum. Failing that, "Ship of Magic" by Robin Hobb. She's by far the most original and inventive Fantasy writer I've come across in years and she has a way with character-driven stories like nobody I've ever read.
2.) The Ataris' "So Long, Astoria." MTV might call them Punk, but they're actually guitar-driven pop. They're very good at what they do. Failing that, ATB's "Movin' Melodies." Dancy electronica. "Sunburn" is the crown jewel of the CD, though "9pm (Till I Come)" is the big radio hit.
4.) kingofallporn. Proving time and time again that Filipinos are the most beautiful people on earth. Great sense of humor, too.
1. The czechoslovakian stop-motion animation version of Alice in Wonderland. Watch the taxidermy rabbit eat nails. Mmm...
2. "the End of Alice" by A.M. Holmes. Good writers can make even pedophilia seem like a beautiful thing.
3. Deeee-Lite's "World Clique". An oldie but a...You know...
4. good_enough. she's french canadian, cute as a button and has a decent attitude about life, along with a healthy sense of ennui. Plus, she takes good pictures and likes anime. :)
1. The Princess and the Warrior - Franka Potente-licious. 2. The His Dark Materials trilogy by Phillip Pullman, starting with The Golden Compass. Very good fantasy, engaging characters and an interesting story. 3. Barber's Adagio for Strings Remixed by Ferry Corsten. Good if you like techno. 4. turtletoes - She has a lot of interesting things to say and is very self-aware.

I'm going to look for Withnail and I in some local alternative video stores. If I like it, I'll go ahead and buy it.

This movie is why I respect both of these actors.
2. 'Prometheus Rising' by Robert Anton Wilson. Lead me to an understanding of how I work as a person. or was the Burning Man? :P
3. Johnny Cash: 'American IV: The Man Comes Around.' His last album, features his covers of 'Hurt' and 'Personal Jesus'. Most excellant.
