How old is your sister now? I don't think she was even speaking last time I saw her.

And what's this you've been doing to the white man?

Things like this make me question parenting one day. When I think about parenting I think of making things with clay, reading books with three word sentences and eating real food out of toy dishes. God Damn these wake up calls. It's so good to be 20.

I think kids are great. Like, i was thinking about it after my sister had her son. And, he is so wonderful.

But.. she is just another young mother of color, who has a kid from a hustler. thats how people probably see her when she is walking down the street with her cute self and her cute stuff. I got angry when i realized this, and now i see all young mothers in a different light.

I think new life is wonderful, and taking care of kids is wonderful, and can be relaxing. But people aren't doing it right for the most part I think. People are objectifying their childeren as part of their identity instead of engaging with them like the seeds of the future the truly are.

In anycase, my sister is six. I feel you on the little kid reality difference though. But I think it could be very managable.
