I'm beginning to loathe the Visual Kei fanbase. All I ever see posted at Jrock uploads are pretty visual bands which even I used to download until I realized, "Hey, these bands suck. They're sure as hell pretty, but man do they suck." This isn't to say I hate bands because they are visual. I love the visual kei style, but it's being used by SO many

I could not have said this better myself. This is exactly why I stopped listening to J-Rock/VisKei/etc.: the music, quite frankly, sucks. :/ And I'm sick of fanbrats raving about how WONDERFUL *insert-obscure-band-name-here* is, and they haven't even listened to a single song of theirs. Le sigh.
It's always pissed me off that GLAY gets a bad rap here because they aren't "visual" enough. Ugh.
And, yeah, you know: I'm even more critical of bands I like than ones I don't. ^^; I don't get the whole "praise everything!" mentality that some fans have. */end rant*
(Oh, and amusing story: when I was in Japan a few years ago, a friend of mine asked a clerk, in Japanese, where the "J-Rock" section was. That poor clerk looked so, so, confused. XD)

I find it funny that most "Visual Kei" music is pop. POP MELODIES. POP-NESS. And yet the fanbase doesn't even know the difference.
And it does piss me off too. Because like you said, GLAY would have a better reputtion IF THEY WERE VISUAL. Then again, why would we want to be associated with a shallow fanbase anyway? I am happy with how they look (even though I secretly wish they would go back to suites xDD).
I also have to agree with you about the more critical part. I know what you mean because with every new GLAY release, I expect so much. Actually, too much. I need to give them some slack, the poor guys. :x
Haha, exactly~! What's strange is I think that J-POP is an actual genre in Japan and even referred to that way. o_O

Mm, GLAY in suits. Hot. Hothothot.
I criticize GLAY too much, too. ^^; I feel really bad about it sometimes.
And yes! J-POP is a genre, not J-Rock. If you go to any Japanese record store, there are two very clearly seperated sections: the "J-POP" section that has everything Japanese (including all these VisKei hard-rock acts that the fanbrats insist aren't pop), and then all the Western music (that is actually divided into 'rock' 'pop' 'metal,' etc.).
'J-Rock' doesn't actually exist; I wish more people understood that. :x
