Set at Taint last night. As I expected, the audience was less than desirable as a whole. Small crowd, which can be fine, except that they also were quiet and passive and acted bored. My sources overheard complaints that they'd seen these numbers before. Which I can completely understand, but do bands have new songs every show they play? I guess you ( Read more... )

Do your shows allow for messiness..? I have some ideas floating around in my head, perhaps we could meet up sometime and see if I would fit into your performances..?

not nearly enough.

i've been wanting to get into shock drag (which to me means lots of bodily fluids and lots of mess) for awhile, but it's the most outside of my comfort zone, and so the few times i've had one in the works, it's always been low on the priority list and gotten cut last minute.

but certainly it would be great to have an element of messiness / trashiness in the shows; we haven't tapped that yet so much. i'd love to hear your ideas and talk about what you do; i'm really trying to expand contacts with other queer performers to put in shows and even potentially collaborate with... make our shows a little more varied, cabaret-style as opposed to straight-up drag shows.

i'd be excited to meet up some time over tea or something equally gay.

ah, tainted love. too bad about the less-than-enthusiastic response, but there's always new ground to be broken somewhere else. whatever happened with the idea of moving to Chicago? i personally can't fathom leaving beautiful portland for the cold Windy City, but what are you folks thinking?

Chicago would be a longer-term plan... it's still out there.

We'll be going there for the International Drag King extravaganza in October, so we'll get a chance to really check it out... although I've been there a bunch already.

I don't know. It makes me sad thinking about leaving Portland.
