Daughter and I went to Brokeback Mountain last night. It was a very good film, and if Heath Ledger wins the Oscar, he will more than deserve it. I only teared up once, when he found the shirts - and not because of his reaction, which I expected, but knowing it was Jack's Mom acknowledging everything by sending him upstairs where he might find them, and then getting a bag and gently placing them inside so Ennis could take them along, tucked away and protected. It made me think she'd done a lot of that over the years with Jack, silently acknowledging and protecting him as best she could in the social and family circumstances.

I won't see it again, probably. I find watching fractured relationships very painful. Once was enough for me.
