There's something wrong with the way the Oscars are presented as in there is way too much filler when I can be away from the TV for over fifteen minutes while doing dishes and only miss the presentation of one award.

I couldn't care less about didn't have much invested in the results tonight, but somehow still felt a culturual duty to participate ( Read more... )

Exactly. I can't imagine ever having as much invested in anything as I did in the LOTR movies.

:-( I thought Ben Stiller's green suit thing was hilarious. Oh, well...

And I've heard Crash is wonderful. A gay male friend at work said BBM did not move him at all, but he thought Crash was the best movie he'd seen all year... Canadian, eh?

There were a few interviewers here just about throwing themselves on poor George Clooney on the red carpet. He kept his cool, but honestly, it has to get tiring. Especially as he doesn't seem to buy into the hype. (Because if he did, he would totally be insufferable. Really.)

My objection to the Ben Stiller thing was primarily that it went on...and on... and on. It wasn't the only time I was wishing they'd trim the presenters time in the spotlight a little in order to give more time to those who actually won the awards.

And Crash was written and directed by a Canadian, so even though I haven't seen it, I still like to see our 'local boy does good' stories.

I have always considered awards shows to be work-time. It is sad, though, that you missed Mr. Clooney's moment. One of the highlights, really.

No lynching from me. I liked both Crash and Brokeback Mountain but was not particularly invested in either, so the outcome is fine by me. Can't say that around this flist, though. So yay for Canada!

I caught Clooney's award - and he was classy. The moment I missed obviously pre-dated the Oscars, as the breathless abandon and near-squeeing from those interviewing him on the red carpet seemed...excessive. And obviously Jon Stewart was in on Clooney = the Sex. Yet, somehow, I missed it. Woe is me.

And Yay for Canada, and our brief moments in the spotlight!
