I'm back!!!!!!

I really didn't mean to be gone this long, but I took an inadvertent LJ break that turned into a purposeful one. With Arwen leaving for school half a country away on September 7th, I grabbed every opportunity to hang out with her and soak in her happy essence before she flew away ( Read more... )

Ah, the rollercoaster of Planet Narya! Cripes, that's some up and downs there! I hope you're all going to be okay. We missed you.

It's been an interesting summer, that's for sure. At least the ups have been pretty good, to balance some of the downs!

I've missed you something awful, and look forward to getting caught up.

Isn't it wonderful? (I can say thatbecause I didn't make it. :) ) It makes me sing the song all day long in my head, and it's one of the few songs where that's a good thing.

I find myself belting out "The Ballad of Jayne" frequently.

((((Pearl))))))) It's so nice to see you!

Unfortunately, I have personal experience with breast lumps. I had my first solid lump removed when I was 27, and the second at 33 (and the tissure removed during the reduction). Both lumps were benign, but with features that statistically were linked to a four times increased risk of breast cancer (and they found further evidence of this in multiple sights from the reduction).

I wanted her to have the surgery before she left, but she understandably didn't want to delay starting in a new place and school, even if only for a week. I'm more scared for her than I was for myself, waiting to get a lump out, but I just have to trust that everything will be OK, because that's the only way I can keep breathing.

Luckily, we also had some really great things happening, so this didn't overshadow the whole summer. I wanted her to head off to school feeling positive, and she's enjoying herself immensely there.

It's nice to be back, and I look forward to getting caught up with everyone!

(((Narya))) I also am glad you're back. And that you had a good summer apart from the medical stuff. Arwen's breast lump has to be a benign fibroadenoma but I know that it will be in your subconscious nagging at you until it's out.

Would love to see pictures of your backyard and your zippy little car when you can! We don't have Toyota Yaris here in the U.S.

Welcome back!

I'm hoping for a fibroadenoma, but the lump is unusual enough that no one is willing to say that for sure. It has an irregular shape that isn't consistent with a fibroadenoma, and the cells are a bit unusual as well. I'm trying not to worry, as there's nothing much I can do but encourage her to get a follw-up ultrasound while she's out there to make sure it isn't growing quickly. (She took copies of all the lab reports with her.)

I'll post pictures of both yard and car at some point in the future. Plus, I have a gazillion kittie pictures, and some cool bird pictures, and hope to get some of those up too. I worry too much about being organized - I think I just need to throw up random pictures, and not fret so much about picking the best ones.

I'm glad to be back. :)
